I'm pleased to announce that together with Prof. Conrad Lashley, I have accepted a book publishing deal with Taylor & Francis, one of the world's leading publishers.
With today's rapidly evolving vacation home market, consumers have a wider selection of suppliers, marketplaces, and product-concepts to choose from. Hence there is a growing need for professionals and developers in the industry to have an insightful understanding of this complex market and of the critical success aspects of managing home-style accommodations. By providing a comprehensive resource that supports marketing, sales, leadership development, recruitment and training, the book will assist professional development and management education in vacation home and resort organisations. It will also cover such important topics as regulatory issues, business ethics, and industry trends. The book has the support of important industry associations across the globe.
As a professor for Marketing at the Master Program Hospitality Management - F&B offered by the Università degli Studi di Palermo in collaboration with the Florida International University (Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management) in Miami, I had the opportunity to organize Sicily's first hotel concept competition, with the aim to bridge the industry today and those who will be the creative mind and industry leader tomorrow. The 3 teams had each 20 minutes time to pitch their concepts to a panel of industry experts who scored their presentations based on criteria such as creativity, competitiveness, feasibility and viability.
My research paper 'A tale of three cities: Insight into the impacts of holiday rentals in France', co-authored together with Prof. Conrad Lashley (Academy of International Hospitality Research at the Stenden Hotel Management School), has been accepted for publication in Research in Hospitality Management. This paper is informed by a commercial research project commissioned to investigate the impact of holiday rentals in France with specific reference to three major tourist destinations.
